Dr. Bonnie Jean McKenzie (LTB '01) passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning, April 18, 2004 following a 27-month battle with cancer.  Bonnie served as Vice president for University Advancement of Saint Leo University from July 1998 through March 2003.   A memorial gathering was held on Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at the Marmion-Snyder Dining Center on the Saint Leo University Campus.  Bonnie's family has requested no flowers be sent.  Instead, they ask that contributions be made in Bonnie's memory to any of the following charitable organizations:

Kathy Lowy, a member of the LTB Class of 2002, has some exciting news to report, via LTB classmate Rosemary Armstrong:  Kathy's sister, Anne Applebaum, won a Pulitzer Prize on April 5, 2004 in the General Nonfiction category for her book "Gulag: A History."   Kathy is Issues Director for The Florida Council of 100 and her intelligence shines in every report generated by that organization.

Gregg Smallwood (LTB’04) and his wife Heather are the proud parents of baby Jaelyn Jessica Smallwood, who was born at 9:51am April 14, 2004, weighing, 7lbs 4oz and measuring 19 1/2in.

Kathryn Starkey (LTB ’02) has filed to run for Pasco County School Board, District 4.   Pam Coulter (LTB ’03) will not seek re-election for the School Board seat.

LTB ’04 Initiative

LTB ’04 class members Marc Eichenholtz and Brian Sykes are coordinating a work-day for Chloe Coney at the CDC of Tampa Small Business Incubator.  They want to schedule a Saturday morning within the next month to paint the exterior of the building.  They need 10-15 people (current class members and alumni) to donate time/materials.  Contact Brian Sykes at SykesB@phelps.com if you can help.

Applications for LTB '05
Applications for next year's Leadership Tampa Bay Class of 2005 will soon be mailed out.  This year, the application is available in Word format, so applicants no longer have to search for a typewriter.  To get an application in this format, email leadtampabay@aol.com, or creese@ibhs.org.   We'll send you the new application so you can pass it along to those you know and who you think would enjoy the LTB experience.
