Other News & Community Events

Sean Coniglio (LTB '04) has been actively involved in producing a feature film project called "Descansos" (which means resting places). If you would like to see the web site which has some great photos of the production go to
www.descansosthemovie.com.

Film shooting was finished in late March and post production (editing, sound, special fx's) began in late April and will run for about 3 months. After that, the work will be prepared for film festival applications (Sundance as a primary) with a hopeful acceptance and showing to hundreds of distributors.

Sean says "This will be one of many future productions he will be producing to help expand the film industry in central
Florida and the Tampa bay area."

Sue Hanlon (LTB '04) is once again working with the migrant outreach at her church to organize a back-to-school shopping event for children of migrant farmworkers. In past years, the church has co-sponsored a back-to-school event to hand out school supplies, shoes, socks and underwear (some kids don't have new underwear!). Additionally, a local hospital has sent out a team to conduct back-to-school physicals. This will be the second year they
have offered an opportunity to some of the children to get an entirely new back-to-school outfit.

They would like to offer some of the1500 kids in the east county migrant work camps an opportunity to pick out something new to wear to school. They need sponsors and chaperones. While $50 will sponsor one child's shopping
trip to Target (
Brandon), any size contribution can be made. Since school starts on August 4th and the back-to-school physicals are scheduled for July 30th, they have planned the shopping excursion for July 16th at 8:00 a.m. If
they get enough chaperones for a 1:1 ratio, they should be done in an hour or so. Sue says, "I think those chaperones that participated last year would tell you that it is a wonderful feeling to see a kid's face light up as they
are picking out a special outfit."

If you are interested in participating, please contact Sue at
s.hanlon2@verizon.net  and tell her whether you can sponsor and/or chaperone. Checks can be made payable to
Messiah Lutheran Church (put "school clothes"
in the memo section) and sent to Sue Hanlon at
205 East Jean Street, Tampa 33604.
