The Power of Access 2018

On Thursday, March 8th, a sold out crowd capped at 100 leaders from all over Tampa Bay gathered together at the Bryan Glazer JCC in Tampa to participate in Leadership Tampa Bay's premier event: The Power of Access.  This size group and forum were crafted to focus on coming up with solutions to some of the most controversial issues in Tampa Bay.  The Power of Access group was made up of ten of Tampa Bay's Most Influential People, ten table moderators (one for each table) and 80 participant leaders.  The ten Influencers rotated around the room every 10 minutes to listen to the participants at each table offer a solution to the topic being discussed.

The 2018 Most Influential People in Tampa Bay selected by the Leadership Tampa Bay Power of Access Committee:
* Santiago Corrada - President, Visit Tampa Bay
* Darcie Glazer Kassewitz - Owner/President, Tampa Bay Buccaneers Foundation and Glazer Family Foundation
* Rita Lowman - President, Pilot Bank
* James Nozar - CEO, Strategic Property Partners
* Craig Richard - President, Tampa Hillsborough EDC
* Nadine Smith - CEO, Equality Florida
* Dr. Kevin Sneed - Dean of USF Health - College of Pharmacy
* Joe Waggoner - Executive Director, Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority
* Will Weatherford - Managing Partner, Weatherford Partners
* Julie Weintraub - Founder, Hands Across the Bay and Vice President of The Gold and Diamond Source

The most controversial topics in Tampa Bay selected were discussed for solutions:
* The Opioid Crisis
* Homelessness
* Recruiting and Retaining Top Talent
* K-12 Education - School Start Times
* K-12 Keeping our Schools safe
* Traffic Infrastructure
* Rays Stadium

Many of the Influencers have already provided feedback that they have taken many participants' ideas and solutions directly to their contacts.  Some of the solutions proposed consisted of outsourcing transportation services for school buses, providing lockers at homeless shelters, and building small home projects focusing away from homeless shelters and more on independence.
